well, he's not *wrong* - God IS majestic, and man is totally inferior.
I guess they're just still missing the bigger picture - and I don't think Job is debating God's greatness and power either - he's just questioning why these things are happening, and he's not convinced that it's because he's so horribly sinful.

I just love how this book addresses those questions we constantly ask - why did this happen? is God trying to tell/teach me something?
Not necessarily. There was no lesson here for Job - this was not really about Job at all but it was about God and Satan.
I guess if there's a lesson for Job, it is that God is sovereign, and it is not for us to question Him.

This brought Psalm 8:2-9 to mind;

"I look at your heavens, which you made with your fingers. I see the moon and stars, which you created. What is man that you are mindful of him? Why do you take care of human beings? You made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor. You put them in charge of everything you made. You put all things under their control... Lord our Lord, Your name is the most wonderful name in all the earth!"

not sure I appreciate being likened to a maggot, but he does have truth here. And I like that version of Psalm 8, pchick... I always think of a kids song when I read that.
