"God blessed Obed Edom with children." v5

hm. funny (not) how in our culture today children are generally viewed more as a physical, emotional and monetary "liability" than they are as an "inheritance from the Lord".

They and their sons and relatives were capable men and strong workers. v8

How beautiful to instill a strong work ethic and a heart for detail an devotion into the lives of our children. Only problem is we need to learn to practice one ourselves. I am seeking to take back that work ethic and devotion that I used to have first and foremost as my calling... to be found capable and strong in caring for this home and these people I love in all areas and providing a haven of ministry here where we are.

"Although he was not the oldest son, his father chose him to be in charge." v10

That would be Prairie Poppet. Responsible and trustworthy as the day is long. Not that P-girl isn't, but Poppet is exceptionally so.

"Other Levites were responsible for guarding the treasuries of the temple of God." v20

total rabbit trail here, but what popped into my head when I read this is that I want to be responsible for guarding the treasures revealed to us in scripture. Remembering the old paths, teaching them to my kids, I delight in celebrating passover and remembering the other feasts, because they are markers throughout the year that take us back to commemorate the life of Christ, and what greater cause for celebration could there be???
