Leviticus 5

What stood out to me here was that we are guilty of sin (and separated from God) even if we don't RECOGNIZE our sin, even if we THINK we are innocent. "Even if he does not know that he touched it, he will still be unclean and guilty of sin." v2

and "If a person sins and does something the Lord has commanded not to be done, even if he does not know it, he is still guilty, he is responsible for his sins." v17

The whole responsibility thing is what passed away from us in Christ. He took our responsibility... He carried our sin. Wow.

Communion just kept coming into my mind as I read the closing half of this chapter. The atonement has been made but confession and repentance still are necessary and important aspects of our right relationship before God. Not that it makes us right before HIM on his end, but it makes US right before Him in our own hearts, and reconciles US to what Christ has already accomplished if that makes any sense at all. It gets our heads and hearts in the right place even if He has already done the atoning.

This was a very rich chapter for me, I feel like I am only grazing the surface of its mysteries.
