The audacity of Sennacherib! The glory of that miraculous defeat where Israel didn't need to lift a weapon! The sorrow of one who has seen the hand of the Lord so at work in their life and still becomes puffed up with pride.

"God left Hezekiah alone to test him so he could know everything that was in Hezekiah's heart." v31 That raises question marks for me.

"With him is only an arm of flesh, but with us is the Lord our God to help us and to fight our battles" v.8

I love what happens to Sennacherib - what justice.

Wow, very cool battle.

Pride is such a strong hold for the enemy. It is blinding because it causes us to focus on ourselves instead of the Lord. Hezekiah wasn't immune to this human weakness... He showed such pride showing off his STUFF to the Babylonians...

It is very interesting how this chapter gave a picture of God standing back and observing how he would handle that situation. Checking where Hez's heart was at deep down, unlead by the Spirit maybe?? Interesting....

Totally saw that coming! There seems to be a pattern - God blesses and pride takes over. We absolutely cannot forget to give it back to God!

"God does not object to self-confidence, healthy self-esteem, or good feelings about our accomplishments. He objects to the foolish attitude of taking full credit for what he has done or for setting ourselves up as superior to others."
