Chapter 3 contains the verses of Habakkuk with which I am most famiiar. I have looked to it for inspiration and direction in the midst of drought...a phenomenon that I grew up in and has a special ability to place fear in my heart if I allow it. The verses have a certain farmer appeal.

v17 "Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will REJOICE in the Lord, I will be JOYFUL in God my Savior. The Sovreign Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of deer, he enables me to go on the heights. "

Rejoice--a true SACRIFICE of spirit when dark times come and yet he always gives reward...for me, usually in the form of JOY in Him and the gift of STRENGTH to carry on. What a relief that the Lord shows up in such a big way in the dark times.

A very interesting chapter. I will have to read it again as I felt like I was missing a lot of the meaning. The visuals where incredible though. "His glory covered the heavens, and the earth was full of his praise. The brightness was like the sun; rays came forth from his hand, where his power lay hidden."

Found it very moving when the author asked if the Lord was angry at the rivelan is when the land is struck.r in the area that seems to be about the land being crippled. It is easy to wonder what God's p

Good morning, ladies. Good to see you back, Becky. I was away for the weekend and while I had a great time away I am so glad to be back home and settling back into my own little routine.

I loved this chapter. I loved the words "God is coming..." in verse 3 and also the verses that you shared, Judith.

My word for 2010 is JOY and "being glad in the Lord, rejoicing in God" is what it is all about for me. And now I have three little painted wooden blocks on my desk today to remind me, a thoughtful birthday present from a thoughtful friend.

I will rejoice in God my Savior!

I have been reading but there have been lots of comments lately and I don't feel nearly as insightful so I have just been following along. I totally gibbled that last comment of mine, not sure what I was trying to say... life has been nuts lately and my brain is taking the punishment for it;)
