Ezekiel 10

Ezekiel is seeing again the four headed creature as he was in Ch 1 and as mentioned in Revelation by John, except this time one has the face of a cherub rather than an ox. In my study bible it talks about how cherub are "human headed bulls or lions that stood guard at the entrances to palaces and temples in ancient Mesopotamia." I had always thought that cherubim were angels! With no animal features. So much to learn! :-)

Also from my study bible:
"'Four', which stands for completenss (the four directions in Ge 13:14 and teh four quarters of the earth in Isa 11:12) is used often in this chapter and over 40 times in the book. The living creatures called "cherubim" are throne attendants here representing God's creation: "man" God's ordained ruler of creation; "lion" the strongest of the wild beasts; "ox" the most powerful of the domesticated animals; "eagle" the mightiest of the birds. These four creatures appear again in Rev 4:7 and often are seen in the paintings and sculpture of the Middle Ages, where they represent the four gospels."

The symbolism kinda bamboozles me in some situations so I am thankful for outside input!

"the courtyard was full of the brightness from the glory of the Lord." v4

Oh to be full of the brightness from the glory of the Lord. I am reading a chapter in my book right now on having an undivided heart, washed in the Word and cleansed and purified for an undivided purpose (to output God's grace and all things good in a fallen world) and I am just continuously humbled by how the firstfruits of the day, in the Word, listening, applying His truth changes everything!

Rather than being focused on the petty and the passing, my thoughts can't help but be embedded in the rich and eternal. My days are truly different when I have allowed my mind to be washed in the Word, not just as a task to check off my to do list, but as a face to face encounter where I am warmed in the light of His glory and where it allowed to penetrate through this heart of stone and mold me into something reflective of Him.

Shine, Jesus shine!

this makes me think how God wants His glory to be in everyone (not just between the cherubim) that when Jesus died the glory of God was let out to us from where it used to be only between the wings of the cherubim in the holy of holies.

how amazing to think that all creativity stems from our God who came up with something that can't even be comprehended... eyes all over, 4 faces, intersecting wheels, wings and hand-like features... baffling! I'm glad to get some more of the symbolism here too... thanks Jude!
