"Go through Jerusalem and put a mark on the foreheads of the people who groan and cry about all the hateful things being done among them." v4

"...kill and destroy... but don't touch any who have the mark on them." v6

Brings to mind Revelation 7:2 "Then I saw another angel coming up from the east who had the seal of the living God... He said to them, "Do not harm the land or the sea or the trees until mwe mark with a sign the foreheas of the people who serve our God."

and Revelation 3:12 "I will make those who win the victory pillars in the temple of my God, and they will never have to leave it. I will write on them thename of my God and the name of the city of my God, the New Jerusalem, that comes down out of heaven from my God. I will also write on them my new name."

Cain was given the "mark" or seal of the Lord, to show that despite his being cursed to wander, he was still property of God most High and wrath against him was not to be taken into man's own hand.

These verses make me think about ownership, custody, guardianship. Which leads me to verses that talk about believers being sealed with the Holy Spirit;

Eph 4:30 And do not make the Holy Spiritsad. The Spirit is God's proof that you belong to Him. God sealed you with the spirit to show that God will make you free when the final day comes.

2 Corinthians 1:21 "God put his mark on us to show that we are His, and He put His Spirit in our hearts to be a guarantee for all He has promised."

eph 1:13 "So it is wiht you. when you heard the true teaching- the good Nes about your salvation- you believed in Christ. And in Christ, God put HIs special mark of ownership on you by givingyou the Holy Spirit that He had promised.

That HOly Spirit is the guarantee that we will receive what God promised for HIs people until God gives full freedom to those who are His."

What a stark contrast to the mark or seal of the beast! We are sealed with the Spirit of the Lord and marked and guaranteed for his protection and glory. What a beautiful, beautiful heritage is ours!

"Then he said to me,"The sins of the people of Israel and Judah are very great.The entire land is full of murder;the city is filled
with injustice.They are saying,
"The Lord doesn't see it!The Lord
has forsaken the land.""v9

Makes me think of how people want to live thier own lives and not listen to God, they say,"The Lord doesn't see it."

Sad that so many were slaughtered- so many blinded by their sin and callousness... seems Ezekiel felt the same way...nervous to see how few had been spared.

Shailey- you're right on. Good point.

v9 struck a chord for me as well and the mark brought to mind Revelations. In these horrific situations, I am always relieved to know that those 'who lament and grieve over the detestable things that are done' were spared. I hope that I would qualify for a mark in such a situation...but it makes me think about what I am doing for the people around me who do not know and love the Lord. Am I bold enough? Can they see Christ at work in my life? Am I really helping them to know Him more?
