Esther 3

I never really noticed this before but is Haman actually BRIBING the king? At the end of verse 9 when he says "then I will pay seven hundred and fifty thousand pounds of silver to those who do the kings business?

The other thing that comes up here for me is the spirit of antichrist (when it says many antichrists have already come in 1 John 2:18) that has arisen to attempt to completely wipe out the Jewish people or completely wipe out the ancestral line of Jesus and thus prevent the birth of the Messiah.

When I read, "There is a certain group of people scattered among the other people in all the states of your kingdom. Their customs are different from those of all the other people..." I thought of how this should be a picture of the church as well.

Great points. I also have seen this as a clear example of the spirit of antichrist.

I supposed it must be a good thing that the Jews are so obviously distinct from the rest of the people around them that they are noticed among all the nations. As you said, the Church should be so as well.

Haman is a perfect example of how terrible a man can be when his pride is involved and how pride is so easily corrupted, so easily used as a tool in the hand of the enemy. A strong reason for us to continually sacrifice our pride to Christ!

Great chapter! I kept thinking about pride when I read this too. I am ashamed to admit how prideful I can be in certain areas of my life & the Lord is gently showing me that. Can you imagine how prideful & hard hearted you would have to become to want an entire group of people killed all because one man honored his God more than you. It seems to have really escalated because the "KING" payed honor to Haman & that just set his prideful haughty spirit in full motion...how true that "we" are most tempted to be prideful when we have been recognized for something we have done.
*So true about the Church, Prairie Chick.
